01

Player Development:

Prioritize player development across technical, tactical, physical, and psychological aspects. We place a significant emphasis on the technical aspects of soccer, coaching players on these skills first and foremost – laying the foundations from the youth level – building the foundations.

02

Positive Coaching Environment:

We as coaches serve as role models, creating an environment where soccer is a source of joy and learning, emphasizing the importance of strong relationships between coaches, players, and families.

03

Player Autonomy and Centered Approach:

A player-centered approach where the player is seen as the main actor in their development. This philosophy encourages players to make their own decisions on the field, fostering autonomy to enhance their tactical intelligence and adaptability.

04

Club Identity:

We want a strong club identity. Everyone on the same wavelength/same path/heading in the same direction.

05

Community Impact:

Beyond soccer skills, our club aims to impact players' lives positively, instilling values that help them grow on and off the field.

NOCO Lightning 6 Core Training Principles

01

Arrival and Dynamic Warm-Up

  • Early Engagement: Players are encouraged to arrive early and engage in ball juggling or partner passing, setting a positive tone from the start.
  • Movement-Oriented Warm-Up: We focus on dynamic warm-up exercises tailored to different age groups, incorporating fun games to boost energy and readiness.

02

Technical Work – Building the Foundation

  • Fundamentals: Emphasis on passing, receiving, controlling, dribbling, and shooting.
  • Maximizing Touches: Every player works with a ball individually or in pairs, ensuring plenty of touches to refine technique.

03

Small-Sided Game Play

  • For Under-13 Players: Utilize 1v1s, 2v2s, and 3v3s to encourage creative, expressive play.
  • For Older Players: Implement 2v1s, 3v2s, and 4v3s to develop overload recognition, tactical movement, and spatial awareness.
  • Balancing Act: We focus on both individualistic actions (e.g., driving/dribbling) and team-oriented actions (e.g., effective passing) to cultivate well-rounded game intelligence.

04

Possession Games / Rondos / Scrimmages

  • Maintaining Control: Using formats such as 5v5 up to 8v8, we emphasize keeping possession under pressure and quick decision-making.
  • Game Simulation: These drills simulate match conditions, reinforcing the importance of communication and teamwork.

05

Additional Drills – Tailored to Your Team’s Needs

  • Flexibility: Coaches are encouraged to incorporate extra drills (e.g., shooting, shape work) as needed, based on the specific requirements and strengths of their team.

06

Fitness

  • Short, Intense Sessions: We integrate 5-10 minute fitness segments such as Broncos, shuttle runs, or Tabata sprints that deliver a huge return on investment.
  • Building Resilience: These sessions develop resilience, toughness, and camaraderie while reinforcing team identity.
